Tidbits
Can I just say I’m ready for summer break?!? I mean for real. This last month of school is d-r-a-g-g-i-n-g….
wait…
what???
The last month hasn’t even started?????
UGH!
This weekend I went back home to celebrate my precious little niece's second birthday! I cannot believe she is already two years old. She is still our little miracle baby!
I wish we could spend some more time together, but I cherish the moments we do have.
I love my sweet boy. However, he was a holy TERROR on Sunday. He was so whiny, clingy, and just plain hateful. We would tell him no, and he would swat our faces, bite our arms, and so on. He also throws a tantrum now and then by flinging himself on the ground and just whining. Sometimes his tantrums involve flinging his head back and going limp. I mean really?? Where did my sweet baby go? Thankfully, he has more good days than bad, so I guess I will keep him…
He’s getting so big!
And I really had a lot more to say, but it’s been an extremely long day at school and I can’t really remember.

Wonderful Weekend!
Wow! What a great weekend we had at my parent’s house. It was desperately needed…
One of my sweet boys wrote me this note on Friday afternoon. I cried. He’s been known as a behavior problem in the past, but I would seriously take him home with me any day. I love that kid. I remind myself that this is why I teach. This letter could not have come at a better time!
I was ready to get away after an extremely stressful work week. We headed up to Omaha after school on Friday.
Drew and Audrey were at Nana’s house too. They are SO much fun! Audrey finally decided she liked Griffin and even played with him. Brandon made some bubble solution and blew bubbles with Drew in the kitchen. I’m sure Nana loved that!
Saturday was spent at home. I love the peace and quiet on the farm there. Bran and I got up and ran since I missed Saturday’s WCR clinic. I really should do a post about that soon! I had a 12 minute mile, which isn’t great, but better than staying at home on the couch!
We took Griffin up to see my grandpa’s baby goats that afternoon. Griffin rode in the ranger for the first time. I think he loved it! However, when Bran started driving through the field, I didn’t love it so much. There was nothing to hold on to except for Griffin, and I was afraid I was going to fly out of that thing!
Nana also had a photo shoot with Baby G.
Those little Carhart overalls, camo boots and onesie, and Carhart hat were killing me with cuteness! He looked like a little hunter. He just needed a little toy gun!
That evening, Bran and I got away for a few hours. We ate a burger at Freddys. They have the best french fries eva! We made a quick trip to Target for some Boogie Wipes for G. I don’t know what we would do without those things! Afterwards, we walked around the Landing and ate some delish ice cream from Marble Slab. Divine.
OH! And I bought a pair of jean capris from Kohls in my pre pregnancy size! AND they were half off! woot woot
If Saturday wasn’t crazy enough, I went to my sister’s house at 8:45 that night and she fixed my hair! I have a slight ombre going on now.
This is by far the longest my hair has EVER been!
Today, we got up and went to Silver Dollar City. My wonderful mom kept Griffin again. I will be eternally grateful. Bran and I have had very little alone time, so to be able to get away again… It was heaven.
Their new roller coaster is AMAZING!!!! Seriously, it’s one of the best I’ve ever been on, and I’ve ridden a ton of coasters. Bran and I were both thoroughly impressed!
So now I’m back at home relaxing on my big comfy couch. Seriously, best weekend. Good for the soul.

SUYL–Favorite Kid Books
If you’re stopping by from Kelly’s Korner, welcome to my little blog!
Today’s topic is close to my heart. I LOVE to read, and I LOVE books. I have a one year old son, and I’m doing my best to instill that love of learning in him as well. In fact, I dedicated an entire wall of his nursery to books!
In addition to teaching him to love reading, I also teach third grade. I have spent so much time and money building my classroom library as well.
One of my all time favorite children’s books is by Max Lucado. It is called You are Mine.
And of course, You are Special by Max Lucado.
These are the sweetest books. The main character is named Punchinello who is a Wemmick. Wemmicks are wooden dolls made by Eli, the master woodcarver. You are Special deals with the all important lesson of other people’s opinions of one another. However, the only opinion that matters is our Makers. You are Mine talks about no matter how many material things one has, it does not determine your worth. Both are amazing books. I read them to my son and my third graders. It always sparks great conversations (with kids that can talk… ha!)
For older children, my favorite read alouds are by Roald Dahl. I love his fantastical fiction style. The BFG and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are always classroom favorites. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is another. I can go on and on! There are too many to list!
Thanks for stopping by!

13 Months and Easter
March 24: Griffin turned 13 months!
So what is he up to these days?
He is still such a good baby. I feel more like a parent though these days. I have started disciplining him when needed. He recently decided to start biting me. He hasn’t shown interest in biting anyone else but me, which is a good thing I guess. I’m to blame… I play like I’m biting him when playing. He thinks it’s hilarious. Now I’m reaping the repercussions. I spank his bottom and tell him no very firmly. It hurts his feelings and just bawls. He’s pitiful.
He’s also been more clingy to us when we’re around new people. He used to go to anyone anytime. Now he is starting to act more shy. Thankfully he warms up to people very quickly and won’t cry if they just snatch him up!
He is a picky eater. He LOVES carbs!! He will eat bread all day long if I let him. Vegetables are not his favorite. However, he loves pineapple, strawberries, and bananas. Grilled cheese sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, chicken nuggets, applesauce, sweet potatoes, popsicles, puree vegetable pouches, and waffles are on his favorite foods list as well. He is drinking from his sippy like a champ still. He is probably drinking way too much milk because he loves his cup so much! It holds 9 oz, and he drinks between 3-4 cups a day.
When G wants down from his high chair, we make him say “down please.” He doesn’t say it correctly, however, he gets pretty close! We know what he means. He also says, “What is that” all the time as well as “belly button.”
I just LOVE this kid sooooo much. I know he is going to keep me on my toes for the next several years.
Griffin goes to bed between 7-8 each night, and wakes up between 6-7 in the morning. He takes two naps. His first nap is from 9-10:30 and his afternoon nap is from 1-when he wakes up…. usually around 2:30-3. He drinks a glass of milk when he gets up, eats breakfast at the babysitters at 8, lunch at noon, a snack around 3:30, dinner at five, and his final glass of milk before bed. He’s on a great schedule! I love knowing exactly what he needs when.
He can now climb up on the couch by himself. He is more steady now when he walks. Bath time is still his favorite. He plays in his cozy coupe allllll the time. If there is something that has buttons, he’s pushing them. Whether it’s the remote, iPad, phone, picture frame, cable box… it doesn’t matter. If there is a button, G is pushing it!
Griffin is absolutely precious! I’m not biased or anything….
On to Easter!
Navy and orange was the color scheme this year. I wish I would’ve gotten the front of Griffin’s shirt! It was monogrammed with a little chicken on his tie. Too cute!
The play was a tremendous success this year! We had four performances, plus a dress rehearsal, and over 200 people were saved!! God is soooo good! Brandon did an amazing job as usual portraying Jesus. I stand in awe of him this time of year. The stress from the play can be overwhelming at times, but we have an amazing church family that held us up in prayer, especially Brandon, and he always handles everything with so much class and grace. I so blessed to come home to such a great guy!
Griffin made it to two of the performances. Oh. my. word. He’s still a little young to be included. He was all over the place. In fact, he yelled “Dada” during on of Brandon’s monologues. Talk about embarrassing!
You can see that I don’t have many pictures these days. Videos are so much easier.
