Classroom Tour

My yarn wreath on my door. So fun!

The view from the door. As you can see, my SMARTboard has been replaced by a 77 inch TV. A select few classrooms have TVs now, and eventually all classrooms in the district will have them. They are more cost efficient and allows the teacher to manipulate the board anywhere in the room with a tablet.

The back of my room. I LOVE my chair balls!!

My first ever word wall. This will be for vocabulary words from our literacy units.

My desk is in the back corner by the window and my library runs along the wall. I replaced my original chevron rug with this $20 find from Ikea.

My reading group table, laptop and iPad cart is on the other side of the room. The shelves hold book sets and math manipulatives.

The front of my room. Chevron fabric is from Hobby Lobby. I'm always looking for ways to brighten up every space, so this year I put Christmas lights around my whiteboards.

Writing proficiency board

Classroom data board

Student supply area

Lots of books!! Clear tubs house specific authors or series. Blue tubs have fiction genres, and the red tubs have non fiction books.

Calendar and writing goal chart. So excited to use the goal chart I found on TPT!

So that's basically all! I'm excited to begin my new year tomorrow!

End of Summer

Good news first.... griffin is back to his sweet self once again! His horrible teething/sleep regression stage only lasted a week. Not sure if it ended because it ran its course or if I need to thank his amber teething necklace. I bought it in a moment of desperation during his last teething battle off of amazon, and I had completely forgotten about it since! My family calls it his hippie necklace. But I don't care what they say because the very night I put that necklace in him, all went back to normal in the Motley house. Just in time for school to start back. Ugh. I am going to miss my time with my baby.

He is getting SO big!!

I was at school four out of five days last week. My room is ALMOST complete. Hopefully my next post will be a walk through.

Teacher kid problems....

Aunt Felicia cut Griffin's hair Friday. It always grows so fast! He even sat in the chair all by himself! That night we went to my inlaws to celebrate Uncle Jason's birthday. G sat at the big kid table all by himself!!

Saturday morning I attempted running five miles again. I did SO much better this time than the first, but I had to take a couple of walk breaks. I still averaged a 12:40 pace. That night we went to Omaha to celebrate my great grandma Opal's 95th birthday!!

Now we are back home, Nd I have a million things I should be doing to prepare for the upcoming week. But..... G and I may just play all afternoon.

My Living Nightmare

I'm living in some kind of nightmare. For the past two days, my sweet Griffin went from this
To this
And this
Which isn't AS bad...

He is cutting some new teeth. I think they're either his bottom molars or top canines (is that what they're called???)

His symptoms:
Low grade fever
Nasty diapers
Temper tantrums
Fighting sleep
Chewing on everything

Diagnosis:
Teething monster

On top of all of that, he is having some separation anxiety, but it's usually only when it's time to go to sleep. Something has scared him or he just doesn't want to be left alone in his room. Normally, I just put him in his crib, say goodnight, he turns over, and I leave to enjoy an hour or so of quiet time with my hubby. But since Thursday, he SCREAMS at the top of his lungs when I leave. It's horrible. He even has a bruise on his forehead from banging it against his crib. :| I mean really?? I don't even know this kid anymore!!

Today was actually better. Except nap time. That was pretty much the worse experience I've had with Griffin. He fought sleep for thirty minutes and made himself so upset that he couldn't even calm down when I finally picked him up. As soon as we left his room and sat on the couch, he laid down and was out like a light. Slept from 11:15 - 2:00. I just dunno what to do to help him!

And on top of that its my last week of summer vacation. And on top of that, I shut my hand in the car door.
Ouch. :(
