Our Weekend

It was so nice to spend a weekend at home! Brandon FINALLY had the time to hang up my blinds on our french doors. He has way to many things going on in my opinion. Between church responsibilities, work,  mma, and a new baby, it’s a little much. But I am grateful he marked off a few things on his Honey-Do list.

We spent a few hours in Conway on Saturday. Griffin needed some new sleepers. He is officially in 3-6 month clothes. I bet in a few more months he will be in 6-9 months. I weighed him today using our scale at home, and he was 15 lbs and 6 oz. That means he gained a pound and three oz since his 2 month checkup. OMW! That’s insane. Anyways, we ate dinner at Chilis. I tried the crispy chicken tacos. It’s my new favorite. Soooooo good! The rice it came with tasted just like Hawaii. I could’ve ate an entire bowl of it.

Yesterday was a great day at church. Griffin and I took a wonderful nap while Brandon worked out that afternoon. At d-groups, we had a surprise birthday party for the youth pastor.

Today, I’ve been watching my baby learn. He LOVES his bouncy seat. A few weeks ago he got so excited to swing his arms and kick his legs to make his toys swing back and forth. The past few days however, his movements have become smoother and more directed. He concentrates on his little monkey, and slowly reaches for it. He still doesn’t have the skills to grab ahold of it on purpose, so he ends up batting at it. But that doesn’t stop him from trying! It’s adorable. The other night, he almost rolled over from back to tummy! I was cheering him on, but he got super mad because he couldn’t get his paci. He was so close though! It wont be long!! I am so excited to see Griffin grow and learn, but I wish it wasn’t happening so fast….

Two Months

Happy Birthday Griffin! My little boy is already two months old!! I cannot believe it!

He is the sweetest baby!

Griffin had his two month checkup today. He weighs 14 pounds and 3 ounces and is 24 inches long. His doctor called him a moose! Griffin is in the 90th percentile in both height and weight, and is in the 95th percentile in head circumference. (He gets that from me…)

Griffin’s hair is turning strawberry blond, and his eyes are slowly turning brown. He is a great mixture of both Brandon and me! He definitely has his daddy’s gorgeous eyes and my lips. He is still nursing every 2-3 hours. He nurses and then plays for an hour. Afterwards, he sleeps for an hour, and is up to do it all over again. He is holding his head up so well! He loves his playmat and bouncy seat, but doesn’t care for his swing so much. Griffin is in number two diapers, but he hasn’t been going through as many as the first month. He smiles a lot, especially in the morning after he eats. He hasn’t giggled yet, but I think it’s coming soon! He still sleeps pretty well at night, going for 4-6 hour stretches. One night we got a full eight hours in! Hoping that happens more often now that he is a little older.
Brandon and I have so enjoyed the past two months. We cannot imagine life without our little man now. God has blessed us with such a well tempered baby. I miss being able to get up and go where ever I want whenever I want, but Griffin is so worth it. I love that little guy and our little family!

Family Time

I had a wonderful week! Tuesday, Griffin and I went to stay with my parents for a few days leaving poor Daddy at home to work. I had to pack up half of my house to be gone for five days. Griffin requires a lot of things!
Wednesday I spent the majority of my day with my sister. Precious baby Audrey turned one yesterday. She is our little miracle baby. We made lots of decorations for her party that was on Sunday. That night, mom, Kayla, and I ran up to Target. I got Griffin a sweet little jumper for this summer and Audrey a shopping cart for her birthday.
Thursday, I spent an hour and a half with my great Grandma. Her kids bought her an iPad and set up a Facebook account. I tried to give her some pointers. I think it’s hysterical, but also amazing, that a 93 year old is using an iPad to get on Facebook and is doing rather well! That afternoon, I went back to Kayla’s house. She finally cut and highlighted my hair. She hasn’t fixed my hair since August! It was NASTY! I officially have a mom-do!

Sweet cousins! I can’t wait to watch them grow up together!
That night, Mom and I ran back up to Branson. I wanted to look for an outfit to get Griffin dedicated in at church. I found several cute summer outfits for him! He’s getting SO big!
Friday was a rainy day. It was perfect for sleeping in and just hanging out at the house. Mom got off work early and was able to take Griffin’s two month pictures. She got some really great ones!!

I LOVE the monthly stickers Nana got him!

He’s officially the sweetest baby ever!
Brandon came up Friday night. Griffin and I were extremely happy to see him!
Saturday was spent at Kayla’s finishing up the decorations. That night, Brandon and I got to go on a date! Mom kept Griffin so we could eat at Olive Garden. I broke my diet, but the bread, alfredo, and glass of Coke was sooooooooooooo good! The conversation and alone time with Brandon was even better though. It’s hard to get quality time in at home with the baby. Griffin likes to rule the roost for sure. haha!
Sunday we went to church with Kayla and Chase. Audrey and Drew were dedicated. I’m so thankful for a God-fearing family! It’s priceless! Kayla and Chase have a great church family that love their children. Brandon and I also have an amazing church family. And Brian and his soon-to-be Mrs. are also planted in a wonderful church. Griffin and his cousins will have a great foundation in the Word. LOVE!
After church, we went to Kayla’s to celebrate Audrey’s birthday. I can’t believe it’s been a year!

From this to this:

God is so great!!

So happy for my brother. I know he will have a great life with Megan. July 27 is the wedding date!

Griffin’s first Easter basket from Nana! There was a Bumbo tray, a little bible, some flip-flops, sunglasses, and two outfits.

Such a cool baby!
We got back last night, and Griffin slept from 10-4. ahhhh!
Well this post is kinda all over the place. But the point is, I had a great week filled with priceless moments with my family!

I love my sweet little family! Griffin’s two-month post coming up!

Babywise

Since he was born, Griffin has nursed every two hours (beginning to beginning). That’s probably why he is a healthy 14 lbs at only 6 weeks!! I have attempted to change him to a 2.5 hour schedule with some success, but haven’t stuck with it because who wants to hear their baby cry!?!
Last week, I realized Griffin was not eating as much as he used to in the beginning. It made me think that he was eating every two hours simply because that was his routine. Yesterday, I stretched his times fairly easy to 2.5 to 3 hours. But today has been awesome!!! He has gone three hours every time relatively painless! It’s been amazing. I hope it lasts!
My dream schedule for Griffin at 6 weeks:
6:00 am – nurse and nap
9:00 am – nurse and start our day (play and nap)
12:00 pm – nurse and play
3:00 pm – nurse and nap
6:00 pm – nurse and play
8:00 pm – bath and bedtime stories
9:00 pm – nurse and bedtime! (And sleep all night!)
Griffin actually slept 8 hours the other night, but hasn’t done it since. I have realized that he needs to be in bed, or at least getting ready for bed, by 9. I’ve tried to keep him up late in hopes that he sleeps later, but that is not the case. If he stays up late, he thinks it’s still daytime and gets up many more times than if he went to sleep at 8 or 9.
Griffin is such an awesome baby. I could just eat him up!! We aren’t too far off from the ideal schedule I posted. I think we will get there soon. Consistency is key!  A routine will simplify not only my life and Brandon’s, but his as well. I think he will be an even more happy baby when he knows what to expect!
I love this picture! Even though he looks a tad c-r-a-z-y!

In other news, this is Benchmark week at school. I’m so not missing that stress. However, I miss my kids and my team and all my co-workers. I just got the news today from our Assistant Superintendent that my proposal was chosen to get iPads in my classroom for next year! I’m super excited and already have a lot of ideas running through my head!

Smiles

So you would think that staying at home with the most precious baby EVER, I would have more time to blog. In fact, I do have more time to blog, but I have been neglectful. Griffin and I spend each day pretty much the same. Eat, sleep, play, and change diapers. But today, something extraordinary happened! He smiled! Not like a “I have gas smile” but a real, genuine smile. It was the cutest thing ever! I got a sweet smile from him in the morning, but wasn’t convinced that it was the real thing. But this afternoon, he convinced me! The only thing that would make it better is if I could’ve gotten a picture!
